Recently, the team at Applebee’s #214 came together in support of a junior golfer, Smith Brinker.  Smith, a nationally ranked junior golfer in the nation, was diagnosed with cancer two years ago.  After learning of his cancer, Smith was told he would never be able to golf again.  During his chemotherapy treatments, Smith spent time in the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.  Miraculously, following surgery he was told the lump they found was not cancerous.  The time he spent in the hospital changed him and he used that passion for helping others to organize the “Champions Fore Cincinnati Children’s” Golf Challenge.

That is where the team at Applebee’s #214 in Union Centre came in.  When they heard about this amazing young man and the event he had begun, they immediately jumped in to help.  The Management Team partnered with the Cincinnati St. Xavier Golf Team, serving them lunch and dinner on the day of the tournament.  The team played 54 holes in one day.

This event, all planned by an amazing 17 year old young man, raised almost $36,000 for cancer research.

Thank you to the team at Applebee’s #214 for partnering with Smith Brinker and introducing us to this great cause.
